2018 sales series comes to a close

JUNE 06, 2018.

The Magic Millions National Weanling Sale witnessed the Gainsborough Lodge sales team realise another six-figure Lot in 2018 when a strapping first-crop son of Rich Enuff fetched $100,000 on Day 1 of proceedings.

Offered as Lot 278, the black/brown colt was sold to Florida-based bloodstock agent Justin Casse, one of six prominent purchases totaling $800,000 the overseas visitor made during the auction.

A very well grown September 2017 foal, the youngster is from a three-time winning three-quarter sister to the dual Group 3 winner Raspberries and hails from the family of Group 1 winning sprinter Flavour (VRC Salinger S.-G1).

The Rich Enuff colt was the third yearling or weanling consigned by Gainsborough Lodge to make six-figures during the 2018 bloodstock sales series.

Gainsborough Lodge realised $175,000 for its one and only offering during the Australian Easter Yearling Sale when a magnificent daughter of Not a Single Doubt catalogued as Lot 224 sold to  Kennewell Racing P/L based in South Australia.

The stud's other six-figure sale in 2018 came at the Sydney Classic Yearling Sale where a very racy daughter of Dissident (ex Secret Status) was knocked down to Birchley Racing for $110,000.

In addition to three $100,000-plus sales, a colt by Written Tycoon also offered at the Sydney Classic brought $95,000, while a first-crop son of Dissident consigned at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale went for $90,000.

Gainsborough Lodge's sales commitments for 2018 were brought to a close on the second day of the Magic Millions National Yearling Sale when two colts were sold on our behalf through the Embrook Stables draft. Sons of Wandjina and Dissident, this brace of youngsters fetched $29,000 (Lot 1962) and $26,000 (Lot 2009) respectively.

All told, the Gainsborough Lodge sales team offered a combined total of 29 yearlings or weanlings, successfully managing to sell all but one of the contingent for an aggregate of $1,117,500.
